- The crate is large and seems sturdy. It is over 70 lbs shipped! There was lots of metal dust which rusted on the surface which alarmed me at first, but it wiped off easily. It went together easily even though the instructions were a bit lacking and missing some items like the tray block and lock install. It is a nice crate for the price and I would buy it again. The grate floor worries me a bit as our dog has separation anxiety which keeps us from putting any bedding in as he shreds it and we worry about him choking.

- I purchased this crate for my 65 pound chocolate lab / pit bull mix 3 year old who has some speration anxiety issues. She had destroyed 2 previous crates and hurt herself once while trying to escape. This crate is HEAVY DUTY. 80 pounds shipping weight. The construction is nice with welded vertical and horizontal bars. The crate bolts together with included hardware which was nice but could have included a few extra washers. (They only include enough washers to be used on the nut side of the bolts. Went to home depot and got 60 cents in extra washers to do the job right) There were no directions but once you pull everything out its easy to see how to fits together.

I did feel that the locks on the crate were a bit flimsy so I picked up a couple of barrel bolts from home depot as well and bolted them on. I have not noticed any bends in any of the locking mechanisms so I assume that the original locks were strong enough but for 98 cents it was worth the piece of mind. The crate collapses on itself for transport and can bolt together in less then 5 mins with a ratchet and wrench. The only downside is that the crate arrived with a broken weld for the floor of the unit. I used some epoxy from home depot to fix the weld. My dog loves the crate and shes not afraid to go in it and lay down during the evening hours which she never did with the cheep crates from the local pet stores. If you have a dog that likes to abuse their crate or escapes you need this crate.

- We have an 80 lb black Labrador Retriever who is an "escape artist". He has torn about, broken open and otherwise destroyed three different crates. The first two were the sort that you can buy at Petsmart. Reasonably heavy guage wire, but nothing that will stop a large dog that is really determined to break out of the crate. The third one was similar to this but with 20 guage wire rather than actual bars.

Unlike the other reviewer, I bought this crate on Amazon from Pampered Pets. The crate arrived in good condition and was easy to assemble. It doesn't include instructions, but assembly was very obvious and easy and they weren't needed. The hinges and locks are just fine. My dog has been in the crate for two weeks now and nothing is bent, damaged, etc. The previous crates were destroyed in 2 weeks, even the heavier third one.

I am very happy with this crate. I wish I had found it sooner rather than spending money on three other products that were never designed for the sort of dog that I have in the first place.

If your dog breaks out of crates routinely, you need something better than the typical doggie crate/kennel. This is it. It's anything but typical, with heavy duty bars that no dog smaller than a Dane could bend or break. And it still looks good, unlike some of the other heavy duty crates I saw that looked like they belonged at the dog pound.

I highly recommend this. You'll ultimately save money by spending a bit more on this one.
