- PETAPOTTY HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER AND THEY COME ACROSS LIKE THEY ARE SELLING A SUPERIOR PRODUCT. THEY ARE EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED, AND THERE PRODUCT IS WAY OVER PRICED. IF YOU WANT TO RETURN A PRODUCT BEWARE YOU WILL BE CHARGED A 20.00 RESTOCKING FEE, NO CREDIT ON GRASS, OR SMELLULTOR. ON A 230.40

ORDER THEY CREDITED ME A 105.00 PLUS THERE WAS THE ACTUAL COST OF RETURNING THE UNIT. IF YOU NOTICE THE LAST REVIEW WAS WRITTEN BY SOMEONE THAT HAS A VESTED INTEREST IN SELLING THE PRODUCT.NO ONE WOULD WRITE SUCH A LENGTHLY REVIEW WITH ALL THAT INFO. SHAME ON PETAPOTTY! THEY STINK!

- Okay, I really don't understand what the beef is with the two people that reviewed this product. Maybe they are from a competing company?

I have owned my PetaPotty for a year now.

There are a number of potty products on the market for pets. This was one of the first. I did exhaustive research on which one to buy. In the end, I choose the original PetaPotty.

First, let me you you, 3 feet by 3 feet is much larger than you anticipate. I have one Boston Terrier (soon to be two) and the unit is by far large enough for him. Once I get my new pup I think the unit will be the perfect size.

From the start I choose to go with the synthetic turf. Although (to me) it is nothing like grass, it seems to do the job. There are holes in the bottom of the turn and slats in the bottom of the PetaPotty, so all urine and water seep through and are captured in a tray below.

The tray is large! Too large for the unit, in my opinion. It is fairly difficult to remove from the unit if it is moderately full of water after rinsing. So if you plan on carrying it through the house and dumping it in a toilet/sink/bathtub, I would recommend you go with a smaller model. If you plan on just pulling it out of the unit and dumping it off your patio, the size is just fine.

Now, the biggest issue is the smell. People that have yards for their dog even notice that if you go near where they do their business, there is a distinct smell. Teaching my dog that this new potty was where he needed to go was a breeze. He understood in the very first day, even liked it! I was overcome with joy until about a week later it began stinking worse than anything I have ever smelled! A little research revealed that you should rinse out the potty and empty it on a daily basis. Whoops!

Even after rinsing it daily, the smell is still a battle, although MUCH easier to handle. I found the more you rinse it, the less it smells. If I were to rinse it twice a day instead of once, I doubt there would be much smell at all.

I pick up poop every day as well. If you leave it on the potty your dog will end up stepping in it. They love the unit so much they WON'T even considering doing their business elsewhere.

Also, I forgot to mention that the unit is not just a cheep piece of plastic. It is large and sturdy, and VERY heavy. I was hardly able to lift it myself! (I am 5'11" tall and weigh 190lbs, televisions are usually a breeze for me!).

So to review:

-- The unit is large. The original size (3x3) is large enough to handle two dogs (25lbs or under).

-- It requires a lot of maintenance. It must be rinsed at least once a day to battle bad smells, and should be deep cleaned about once a month or so.

-- Every dog I have at my house LOVES the unit. Even if they haven't been trained by me they go directly to the PetaPotty to do their business.

-- It is the perfect potty solution for people without yards, such as condo or apartment dwellers. So long as you have a patio, that is. I could never imagine keeping it indoors. The smell would be too much to handle (not to mention the risk of spilling it when you empty it!)

-- It is a sturdy unit, not made of cheep or flimsy plastic.
