- The house is very flimsy and cheap looking as is. A coat of paint might really improve this, so I'll try.
It took 15 minutes to put together- everything interlocks and it would have taken less time if my six and eight yr old nephews hadn't helped me.
I left my 10 month old Great Pyrenees alone with it for 45 minutes and she chewed off part of the roof, despite the assortment of chew toys left for her. :(
If your pet it a chewer, this might not be the best idea. I'll have to monitor her with it so I can tell her no when she wants a bite and condition her to stop chewing it - if that's possible. The house is cute and will be much better painted, but how can you help but feel you've tossed money into the trash after something like this? I was easily chewed.
- This is the first dog house I have ever purchased. It is quite easy to assemble. However, the small trim pieces at the top of the roof that are supposed to snap on broke. The house looks very artificial/plastic unfinished. Using stains semi-transparent and solid made the house look great. You can easily adapt to your decor. The only draw back is my dog prefers to stay out in the rain than be in the house - so I can not give it a paw rating.
When getting stains, purchase the sample size, you will find it will easily cover the dog house.
April 6, 2010 edit: I emailed NewAgePet customer service about the broken end caps. They are sending me replacement parts.
- This dog house was very easy to put together, aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and it seems that it is going to be quite durable over the long run. It was worth the price.
